The BBC’s public-service TV catch-up desktop application leaves beta phase and will get its first consumer marketing on Christmas Day. The application began testing in July and will offer programmes from the last seven days; viewers are given 30 days in which to start watching and a further week in which to finish off. Notably, the Christmas programme information pack delivered to TV guides says the web streaming option will also be available at the same time, allowing Vista, Mac and Linux users to watch the Queen’s speech if they happened to miss it. “Over time, BBC iPlayer will also include radio and series stacking, and be available on cable in early 2008 and mobile later in the year.”
