BBC News website deputy editor Paul Brannan has been appointed “emerging platforms” editor at the corporation. In its tenth anniversary last year, the website became part of an integrated multimedia news operation when the broadcaster killed off the old News Interactive division along with Radio News and TV News to combine strengths in the wake of cuts under the six-year Creative Future plan. Peter Horrocks became head of the multiplatform newsroom. Brannan is also co-chair of the Online News Association’s international subcommittee. This new appointment might suggest the maturing of the website, now that focus is required in other areas.
