BSkyB Ups Stake In Murdoch Daughter’s TV Company Shine

BSkyB has upped its stake in a TV producer run by Rupert Murdoch’s daughter from 2.88 percent to 11.3 percent, Sky tells The Guardian. Shine Group is run by Elisabeth Murdoch; its eponymous Shine Ltd house makes Project Catwalk and The Clothes Show; the group also has Kudos (Spooks), Princess (Friday Night Project) and Firefly (The Aztec Massacre) indies – all acquired in the last two years. Murdoch’s News Corp owns 39 percent of BSkyB (NYSE: BSY). Murdoch Jr. founded Shine in 2000 upon leaving Sky Networks; sibling Lachlan, meanwhile, is trying to buy out Australia’s Consolidated Media Holdings.
