Centaur Says Its Spiral Is Slowing After Cuts

NMA and The Lawyer B2B publisher Centaur has published an interim trading update for the last six months of the year – that fails to give an actual figure for that period.

Centaur says the four months to October 31 saw revenue down 28 percent from the prior year, but claims a “positive trend” because revenue in the following two months of November and December was down by less, by 15 percent. There’s no figure for the six months.

Centaur has been cutting costs to tackle the slump, including £12 million in cuts through 08/09.

In November, it said it cut 21 percent from its July-to-October outgoings compared with the previous year, including axing three percent of staff between June and October. That’s on top of the 18 percent it cut in its 2008/09 fiscal year.

Centaur says those cuts had helped slow the revenue fall in the last few months.
