Well, if you’re going to target an audience to pay for your content, you may as well target Man Utd fans. Manchester Evening News is charging £1 for the online version of a 48-page supplement it’s producing to mark Old Trafford’s 100th birthday, HTFP reports.
That’s the same price as the printed edition, even though there are no print distribution costs – but the digi does come with video interviews of Man Utd alumni.
HTFP casts this as a “paywall experiment” – but that’s overplaying what is for now just a one-off, quick potential win. It’s a Pagesuite dump of the printed equivalent that, since this is the internet, MEN decided to try selling out of its native north-west.
