On Mobile & iPad: Sun’s Celebs Sub, Times Unifying Price, FT In Chinese

The Sun has released an iPhone and Android app for its Bizarre-branded entertainment coverage. Costing £1.19 for 30 days and, thereafter, “a small fee within the app“, it packages up the paper’s celeb news, videos and, er, “must-see tweets which are fully exclusive to the app”.

The Times is, apparently, finally absolving paying subscribers of the necessity to pay again to read on iPad. Since its app launched in May, the publisher has been upfront that the £9.99-a-month iPad app is a separate product from TheTimes.co.uk, SundayTimes.co.uk and the newspapers, which can be subscribed and accessed together. But the paper now says: “The iPad app now includes a digital subscription.” That means both services can be used with one account. A Sunday Times app is also in development.

The Financial Times has debuted an edition of its iPad app in Chinese. Like the English version, the app is free for now with a big sponsorship from watch maker Hublot Rolex. It includes content from FTChinese.com.
