UK satcaster BSkyB (NYSE: BSY) is adopting the German and Austrian brand for its mobile, on-demand and iPTV viewing options. From July, its Sky Player and Sky Mobile TV services will all be branded “Sky Go“.
That unified service will be free to Sky TV subscribers, allowing them to watch on-demand and some live channels on iOS devices and their computers.
The existing Sky Mobile TV app, which costs £5 per month for those without a Sky TV subscription, will shut, but customers can pay £7.99 on iPhone or £34.99 on iPad.
Sky Deutschland unveiled “Sky Go” in Germany and Austria in April. BSkyB recently bought The Cloud public WiFi network to give it a WiFi out-of-home backbone for delivering its TV content to viewers on the move.
