Russian Portal Rambler Wants To Buy A Tech News Site

Russian portal Rambler and magazine publisher Afisha, which were last year merged by their owner, want to buy the technology news site Compulenta, Roem reports.

Afisha-Rambler has submitted its proposal to the publisher.

The site had 500,000 unique users in July and could be a good way to buy up technology advertiser relationships in Russia’s fast-growing web market.

Afisha-Rambler already operates the Ferra.ru tech site and this summer it bought gaming news site Kanobu, “IGN.com for Russia”.

Rambler has outsourced its search and ad sales functions to Yandex in what, after the Afisha merger, is a more determined focus on content.

Compulenta is a sibling to Computerra Online.
