KIT, PlayJam Gain More Connected TV Traction

As the connected TV wave begins to surge, operators are trying to capitalise on the opportunities it will bring to shore…

KIT Digital, the video technology company, has been picked by LG Electronics (SEO: 066570) to power a 3D Zone on LG Smart TVs.

That will see KIT pitching to owners of premium content the ability to show it on the new tellies in essentially app form.

Meanwhile, PlayJam, which long brought games to BSkyB (NYSE: BSY) boxes but which is now gaining business-defining traction on the box-less new internet TVs, will next take both its own and third-party games to Panasonic’s Viera Connect internet-enabled TVs.

PlayJam games were already on the leading IPTV systems, Samsung Smart TV and Sony (NYSE: SNE) Internet@TV. The above two announcements show LG and Panasonic catching up with the market leaders.
