News Corp.’s Times Newspapers is continuing to see digital subscription gains – but growth is slowing, and their boost to print sales has proved short-lived.
The publisher’s pioneering multi-platform digital package, controversially introduced in summer 2010, gained 10 percent more digital subscribers through this Q3, taking the daily title up to 111,036 digital subscribers.

But that is slower than the 28 percent growth seen through Q2. And, though digital sales had previously restored total sales to growth, this time total sales reversed slightly thanks to an accelerated print circulation shrinkage.

Despite the slip in total circulation, it is clear that the digital offering is stopping total circulation from dropping off a cliff.
Total sales across print and digital are still up from when Times Newspapers introduced its paid digital bundles in mid-2010. And this reversal in total cross-format sales was only slight.
News International, which was previously coy to release digital sales figures, is today committing to publish them monthly.
