Mail.ru Revenue Grows On Russian Ad Boom, Site Integration

Russian portal and social network operator Mail.ru Group’s half-year growth continued in to Q3, during which revenue was 59.1 percent higher than the previous year at $124.9 million.

Mail.ru saw 56.1 percent more display advertising sales and a 110.6 percent growth in payments through its community sites.

The company has been doing “integration of social graphs across our communications and entertainment products”. Last month, it introduced interoperability between its two IM services (Agent and ICQ) and has unified activity feeds for its My World and Odnoklassniki social networks.

It also introduced consistent design elements across its services – including My World, Odnoklassniki, e-mail, games, search, and IM – to make the whole package stickier.

Odnoklassniki’s September audience is up 18 percent from last year (source: TNS) whilst the Mail.ru Agent IM service has a 29 percent larger audience.

Mail.ru is reiterating a full-year forecast of 50 percent revenue growth with profit margin in the high forties.
