BBC bows sport TV app ahead of Olympics

The BBC has followed up its recently-launched BBC News connected TV app with a counterpart for BBC Sport – a precursor to an Olympics version coming for this summer’s London games.

So far, the app focuses only on Formula 1, comprising a number of video clips repurposed from BBC Sport’s website, as well as live race coverage and on-board car cameras.

Later, the BBC wants to offer 2,500 hours of live Olympics coverage through such a service.

At the same time as introducing this app, the BBC has introduced both the BBC News app, which had already launched on some connected TVs, and the new BBC Sport app on Virgin Media’s TiVo boxes.
