Digital Lawyer Struan Robertson Joining Google

Pinsent Masons‘ long-time technology and media lawyer Struan Robertson has left to join Google’s UK legal team as product counsel.

The move has prompted the law firm to reorganise and expand Out-Law, its online law magazine which Robertson started as editor when he joined in 2000.

Current journalist Matthew Magee replaces Robertson as editor, and Out-Law is hiring both a journalist and a technology lawyer.

“Pinsent Masons is making a significant investment in Out-Law’s expansion, which will be the centrepiece of an online strategy that we’ve developed and refined over the course of several months,” Robertson writes in his parting shot.

Robertson had been legal director in Pinsent Masons’ outsourcing, technology and commercial group, and a familiar face on the conference circuit.
