Skype is taking a step toward popularising the service – it’s releasing a version 5.0 Windows client that includes Facebook integration, meaning…
— Skype users can call out to phone numbers listed in friends’ Facebook profiles.
— They can make a Skype-to-Skype with any Facebooker who is also a Skype user.
— Facebook’s news feed is included in Skype, allowing Skypers to read and post status activity.
There’s no mention of Facebook Chat in the announcement. Skype already has its own IM protocol. And callers will still need the Skye app.
There is also now video calling for 10+ people.
