Scottish Channel 3 franchise holder STV is hiring group digital editor David Milne from Newsquest’s Herald & Times group to be the executive editor for its new STV Local “hyper”-local web network.
STV says the project will be launched in a pilot region in September, though the STV Local sites have been operational for a while now.
Before running Herald & Times digital, Milne had been Sunday Herald‘s news editor, associate editor and deputy editor since 1999.
He went on to launch heraldscotland.com, an online attempt to take Glasgow’s daily and Sunday Herald websites integrated and nationwide.
STV is targeting 2010 full-year digital income of £5.2 million, £7.3 million in 2011 and £9.1 million in 2012.
That would be on the back of STV Local, pre-roll sales in to its STV Player VOD shows, mobile apps and its general STV Anywhere multi-platform strategy.
