Press Association is picking Bauer Consumer Media’s operations and technology director Andrew Dowsett to be its first chief technology officer.
Dowsett, naturally, will be responsible for all aspects of IT infrastructure, based in London and reporting to CEO Clive Marshall.
Dowsett’s LinkedIn profile says he had a £16 million IT budget at Bauer. He had been with Bauer and, prior to that, Emap since 2003 and had previously spent six years as an exec at EMI/Capitol Records, coming in after seven years with Virgin Records.
Much of the PA’s technology requirement, in the last couple of years, has centred on its development of multimedia production and distribution capability.
But the PA also operates many of its smaller bureaux on a home-worker remote basis.
