Regional news publisher Archant, which operates over 160 local news, lifestyle and specialist websites, says half-year digital sales are 25 percent up from last year.
Archant says this is “good progress” – but it doesn’t give actual figures, so we still don’t know how much Archant is actually making online
Archant, led by CEO Adrian Jeakings, joined the ranks of publishers to have increased profit lately despite falling sales…
Its half-year operating profit is up £2 million from last year to £7 million, despite £700,000 lower revenue of £70.1 million…
That’s thanks to shaving 4.1 percent off operating costs, and Archant says it will “continue to pursue process efficiencies“.
— Ad revenue was down by 4.1 percent.
— Newspaper and print sales were 1.6 percent lower at £48.3 million.
— Magazine sales were static at £2.2 million.
Earlier this year, Archant launched Cambridge First, a fresh-looking website and newspaper, but no *ABC* data is available to gauge its success.
