Big Brother maker Endemol UK is disbanding its digital unit and instead giving responsibility to a 25-person “digital board” comprising creative heads from all group production companies.
Global digital media and new business head Adam Valkin (pictured), who joined in 2008 from Arts Alliance, has left and UK digital head Peter Cowley is leaving to form his own company, C21 reports.
The new board is chaired by Endemol UK’s COO and the MD of its Remarkable Television producer, CEO Tim Hincks tells C21.
Under Cowley, Endemol had been at the forefront of producing sponsor-funded web-only original drama for social networks and web portals – The Gap Year and Beat for Bebo, Kirill for MSN, Cell for O2. But Hincks says ad-funded video is now “severely compromised”.
Endemol has stakes in MoMedia and Pure Grass Films, but its digital fund has been rather quiet of late.
