MEN Tries Flogging £1 Digidition To World’s Utd Fans

Well, if you’re going to target an audience to pay for your content, you may as well target Man Utd fans. Manchester Evening News is charging £1 for the online version of a 48-page supplement it’s producing to mark Old Trafford’s 100th birthday, HTFP reports.

That’s the same price as the printed edition, even though there are no print distribution costs – but the digi does come with video interviews of Man Utd alumni.

HTFP casts this as a “paywall experiment” – but that’s overplaying what is for now just a one-off, quick potential win. It’s a Pagesuite dump of the printed equivalent that, since this is the internet, MEN decided to try selling out of its native north-west.
