Mobile web page slimmer and aggregator Mippin has hired a new CEO to replace Judy Gibbon, the company’s VC backer from Accel, who took the role in June last year.
The new appointment is Nick Barnett, who, as paidContent:UK revealed last month, became the latest to leave struggling behavioural ad targeter Phorm. He was UK MD.
In the announcement, Barnett says Mippin is the “perfect fit” for him.
Mippin originates from London-based Refresh Mobile. A web-based service, it slims down the content found in publishers’ web feeds for the mobile screen. Last year, Accel appointed its own partner Gibbons in charge of the firm.
At the same time as hiring Barnett, Mippin has won Google’s second won a category in Google’s second Android Developer Challenge. Its submission, Buzz Deck, was an app to flick through the many news sources it indexes. The first prize in the media category wins Mippin $100,000.
