Broadband Content Bits: BBC Comedy, Future MP3s, PA Give Indie Video, ITV VOD

BBC Comedy: ITV (LSE: ITV) Studios has made a five-part online comedy, Brian Pern, for the BBC’s website. The show is a video blog from fictional rock star Pern and is showing at http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/comedy/ during July, though it’s really being seen as a multi-platform commission.

Future music: The mag publisher is giving readers of 15 of its music and computer titles 10 free MP3 downloads in August. The deal means digital music retailer 7Digital, which is supplying the music, will get branding on WH Smith magazine stands – rare brand-name promo for the site, which is usually more associated with powering other stores on a white-label basis.

PA supplying Independent.co.uk: The newswire has struck another win in efforts to reinvent itself for multimedia. It will supply 100+ videos to the Indie’s site per week, powered by Octopus Media. Previous video clients include MSN and Tiscali. Via Guardian.co.uk.

ITV VOD: Independent TV makers’ guild Pact says ITV will now implement the terms of trade the pair agreed back in 2007. That means the broadcaster will be on the right side of producers when it comes to how IP rights for TV shows are determined in the VOD market. The terms specify rights windows and payment issues in such negotiations.
