Former FT.com editor James Montgomery, who was replaced by FT news editor Robert Shrimsley back in January, is now leaving the paper after 12 years to be digital content director for the BBC’s overseas, commercial BBC World News TV channel.
Guardian.co.uk says Montgomery will report to BBC World News editorial director and BBC global news director Richard Sambrook from May 25. After being replaced by Shrimsley, FT said Montgomery was “exploring several options in print and online at the FT”. He was originally brought over to the site in 2006 after serving as FT’s US editor.
