Press Association CEO and chairman Paul Potts is redividing the roles, handing the latter to Tim Bowdler, who just stepped down as planned as the long-time CEO of Johnston Press. The appointment looks well matched, given PA’s connection with local publishers like Johnston – but both Johnston and PA face a difficult 2009, with falling print and classified income in the local news business. Potts said ’09 would be crucial for the industry, with PA continuing the multimedia efforts that have seen it add video output but still fall far short of ITN On in that regard. Bowdler will be a non-executive chairman. Potts had added the chairmanship to his chief exec role when Harry Roche relinquished the post in May.
