Video publishing platform Vpod.tv is shutting its free service on December 31 to concentrate on its income-generating professional services. The outfit, founded by Rodrigo Sepulveda and based in France and Spain, stopped taking new free accounts six months ago but will now kill those free accounts that had registered with it since it launched two years ago.
Sepulveda: “No, we are not going out of business, but we are refocusing 100 percent of our resources towards our corporate and paying customers. We moved to a B2B business two years ago and have kept all the free accounts we had ever since, without ever monetising them. Our terms of service explicitly did not allow for a professional or commercial usage of our free service – most of our free users were, however, using vpod.tv for commercial purposes.
