Bauer Media, the reincarnated Emap (LSE: EMA) consumer division has taken on T-Mobile International biz dev EVP Tony Kypreos to be its group-wide digital MD, NMA reports. Bauer’s digital leadership has been a merrygoround since the Emap deal – digital business director Rebekah Billingsley left for Current TV in April and Chris Lawson, digital director of the TV- and radio-heavy Bauer Performance.
With its roster of magazine sites and multi-mag portals now bedding in, Bauer’s big project is online video, hiring a new video acquisition director this summer. But the guy who used to run things when he was Emap editorial director reckons (via PG) magazines should drop the “cheap telly” imitations and focus on audio. Maybe David Hepworth would favour audio – he publishes music mags The Word and Mixmag. Others at the British Society of Magazine Editors meeting also criticised attempts to take women’s magazines online.
