Times Archive, the 200-year web archive of the paper’s print material, will drop its free introductory offer as planned and go pay-for this coming Thursday. Monthly membership is £14.95, annual £74.95 or a day pass £4.95. All the stories promoted on the Archive homepage will remain free, but everything below will be chargeable. Editor Rose Wild has been blogging some stories behind the two-century-old articles.
Times Online editor-in-chief Anne Spackman announced the site in May and launched it a month later. It’s one of the ways the brand wants to make more from premium content this year.
