TV Games Operator PlayJam Targets Freeview With Own Box

PlayJam, the TV games service that puts casual games on BSkyB (NYSE: BSY) and Virgin Media (NSDQ: VMED), is about to add Freeview to its platform lineup by releasing its own branded DTT box. The £20 so-called PlayBox will include over 50 games from operator Static plus the free-to-air Freeview channels, seven-day EPG and content including news, reviews, weather and travel – running off Static’s Trove operating system. Freeview is certainly proving popular with digital TV adopters – Static’s challenge is enticing potential casual gamers amongst TV users who don’t necessarily want to buy a full games console.
