BBC Monetising Its Long Tail With Mochila Motion Gallery Deal

BBC Worldwide will earn revenue from ads placed on its video content by New York-based content syndication middleman Mochila. Mochila has licensed footage from the BBC Motion Gallery to distribute to its users – media outlets, bloggers and others who tap its content to build their sites. It gives Mochila members some 800 video episodes and 60 hours of short shows. Service users will get the content for free and BBC Worldwide will get an unspecified percentage from ads Mochila places on it. The motion gallery contains archive footage from BBC, CBS (NYSE: CBS) News, NHK Japan, CCTV China and ABC Australia.
