Seattle-based FlowPlay, which is developing community-based pay-for casual games environments for 12- to 17-year-olds, has raised a $3.7 million first-round investment led by Intel (NSDQ: INTC) Capital and Ambient Sound, the Estonian VC firm started by some of Skype’s founding engineering alumni. FlowPlay aims to charge users $5.99 a month and all games will have an added, site-wide role-playing layer. Launch had been scheduled for end of 2007 but CEO Derrick Morton, formerly RealNetworks’ (NSDQ: RNWK) mobile games GM, tells Seattle PI the company’s products are “very complex” and “required a lot of resources and time to build”. FlowPlay started with $500,000 seed funding early in 2007.
