– Current TV: The Al Gore-owned progressive video website and TV channel is doing a Bebo. Where the social network this month launched Open Media, a “platform” play to entice TV makers on to its platform, Current is pushing a “content affiliate programme” – a new video blog strand. Though details are confusing, it appears Guardian and Salon (OTCBB: SLNM) journalists will keep daily vlogs that will appear both on Current.com and the publishers’ own sites. Seems readers can also use the system to record their own vlogs in response to topics started by the pro writers, with those vids having the chance to appear on Current TV as per usual.
– Channel 4: A red rag to the kids TV lobby – C4 is redirecting all of its £6 million schools TV programme budget to multiplatform projects. C21: “C4 said that most new projects would be seeded within online social networks such as Facebook and Bebo, and communities will be built online initially before producing TV spin-offs.” The broadcaster said it was producing content intstead that would work in places like Bebo and LiveJournal; it includes fly-on-the-wall online documentaries, games and a teenager entrepreneur social network.
