Broadband Content Bits: ITN/YouTube, Archers Podcast, Kewego/Truveo

ITN: The TV news agency’s ITN On interactive division has done yet another online distribution partnership; this time, it’s a further deal with YouTube. The new ITN channel is notable for its lack of conventional news fare, replete as it is with celeb, soccer and Bollywood snippets. ITN at Mipcom last week added added shows to Joost’s platform. ITN already publishes clips to customers of MSN, Yahoo!, Virgin Mobile (NYSE: VM) and 3.

Archers: Tech-savvy Radio 4 listeners, rejoice. BBC Radio has added The Archers as a podcast subscription to the station’s website. The popular farming soap joins over 120 radio shows that are available to download on-demand. It was already available via the standard listen-again feature. The BBC began a podcast trial in October 2004, extended it a year later and the scheme was approved by the BBC Trust in April 2007, though some radio shows recently have begun referring to the features as “downloads” to avoid confusion.

Kewego: The French-based, pan-European white-label online video operator has done a partnership to have its videos indexed by web vid search service Truveo. It means programming from Kewego clients including Orange, Lycos, French broadcaster M6 and T-Online will get indexed by the San Francisco-based site. Kewego got a five million euro (£3.4 million) second-round investment in September after opening a UK office in June.
