MoneyAM, Shares Publisher MSM Places Itself For Sale – Report

MSM Media, publisher of the MoneyAM financial news site and the Shares magazine and website, has appointed Grant Thornton to conduct a strategic review of the business in a move that is likely to place it for sale, according to Telegraph.co.uk. The paper said Shares had effectively been put up for sale at up to £10 million, though it’s not clear whether it was referring to just the one title or the whole stable, which last year did £3 million in revenue.

MoneyAM launched in 2003 to give investors real-time price information, news and all manner of data. The magazine site, SharesDigital, is largely tied to the content of the weekly print product. The company also operates the Financial Appointments recruitment site and CompanyAV, a financial calendar and analyst communication service. Each site takes advertising. Telegraph.co.uk: Potential buyers include rival magazine publishers and venture capitalists. Online trading platforms may also be interested as they could use MoneyAM as a channel to generate new customers, said sources.” MSM did not give a comment, however.
