LynkU nets funds for site expansion

LynkU, the UK-based shopping search site, has raised an undisclosed amount of first-round funding
to expand its range of services.

The search engine, formed in December 2005, offers a shopping tool with positional features designed to connect shoppers with local retailers.

“The fundraising will enable us to accelerate the expansion of our services to London and online retailers and increase the range of offers for shoppers,” said chief executive Robert Gorton.

“Our aim is to become the first stop for anyone in search of sales or promotions in the home and household, ladies’ and men’s fashion and health and beauty sectors.”

LynkU lists offers hundreds of local and high street stores, and the money will be used for expansion over the next two years, Gorton said.

He added the funds would substantially increase its range, while a revamped website will follow.
