News publisher Trinity Mirror has bought online recruitment site TotallyLegal.com for £11.8 million ($23.6 million) in cash, it announced this morning. The site lists careers in the UK legal profession and also operates a sister site serving the financial sector, TotallyFinancial.com. Trinity Mirror has added several recruitment and classifieds sites each year over the last couple of years as it looks to shore up its bottom line amid the print advertising downturn, having reported successive disappointing quarters. In 2005, it acquired smartnewhomes.com and hotgroup; last year it bought property search and marketing platform Email4Property, while the group also has a stake in the Fish4Jobs job search joint venture. The Totally suite will complement its network of over 80 local job sites allied to its regional newspaper online properties. CEO Sly Bailey said the latest acquisitions represent the development of Trinity Mirror’s digital and online growth strategy through both organic growth and appropriate acquisitions. Release.
