Microsoft has lured O2 exec Hugh Griffiths to head MSN’s mobile division in the UK. He joins Microsoft’s Online Services Group as director of mobile, Media Week reports He will be involved in launching new mobile versions of Windows Live services, MSN, search and more, according to Mobile Entertainment — notably, Microsoft has partnerships with Vodafone and France Telecom to implement mobile versions of Windows Live Messenger (MSN) as their versions of a mobile IM protocol defined by the GSM Association. Griffiths previously set up mobile marketing agency Flytxt and was MD of iTouch and product strategy head at Cable & Wireless. He joined the telco in 2001, becoming head of data products and services before working on a variety of search, advertising and internet projects as an adviser of late.
