
The Police Complaints Authority is investigating the death of a south Wales man killed as he was chased by police officers.
Gwent Police say the man, who was aged 22, ran into the path of an on-coming taxi whilst running from officers investigating an alleged burglary in Gilfach Bargoed, near Caerphilly, on Friday night.
Police were called to the PC Diagnostics store in the village after a burglar alarm went off at 2220 GMT.
Officers arrived to find two people inside the premises. A gang of up to five young men reportedly ran away from police down nearby William Street
One man was chased across a field. He then run down an alleyway and into the path of a taxi in busy Park Place. He was dead on arrival at hospital.
The man, who has not been named, was a local.

Police made no arrests. Gwent Police has voluntarily referred the matter to the Police Complaints Authority and the coroner has been informed.
The force’s own investigation is being led by Detective Superintendent James at Bargoed police station.
