DMGT Buys 25 Local Papers, Extending Online Geographic Reach

Daily Mail General Trust, the newspaper publishing house responsible for the Daily Mail, said its local newspaper arm, Northcliffe, would acquire the three south-of-England local newspaper divisions put up for sale by rival Trinity Mirror for £64.15 ($129) million in cash, giving it an additional 25 titles. The acquisition will give DMGT East Surrey and Sussex Newspapers (Croydon Advertiser and Surrey Mirror plus five freesheets), Kent Regional Newspapers (Folkestone and Dover Herald plus five other paid weeklies and seven freesheets) and the BlackMore Vale Magazine of Dorset.
